Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall betting is not legal. Eight casinos are established in a relatively small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime area, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, financial sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 1700, and although visas are allegedly required to cross, there are ways around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat casino, features one hundred and fifty slots and sixty tables. The Naga river boat is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machines and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel complex that features many comforts accompanying the casino, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slots and 88 gaming tables.
