Cambodia Gambling Halls
There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is banned. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent area, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are supposedly required to pass, there are means around this, as is true of many borders.
The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge casino, contains 150 slot machines and 60 table games. The Naga gambling hall is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six table games, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the normal tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel complex that highlights numerous conveniences aside from the gambling den, which contains ten thousand square feet of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight tables.
